standard of living
July 29, 2005 on 10:03 am | In Travelogue | No CommentsI think I mentioned it before, but it bears repeating. The standard of living here is SO MUCH HIGHER than it is back home.
COULD IT BE that since they’re not saddled with the staggering cost of healthcare the way we are, they actually have money to spend on other things? EEE GADS, say it isn’t so!!! Doesn’t Big Pharma feed me? Oh wait. They don’t put a damn bite in my mouth. Right.
quaint restaurants abounding

NOT Laaaaaambert
July 29, 2005 on 9:56 am | In Travelogue | No CommentsMunich’s city crest has a lion, so it’s almost the official symbol of the city; everywhere you go, there are these life-size tiger statues. Each one is painted uniquely. One looked like coffee and was called “Leo Macchiatto” — another had Stonehenge on him. This one made me roll on the pavement laughing. Ahhh, these wacky Europeans, gotta love ‘em.

Painted Munich Red
July 29, 2005 on 9:48 am | In Travelogue | No CommentsThursday nights are the big nights out in Munich, so I went clubbing at a “discoteque” (as they call them in Europe) with Barish and Corey, and another of Corey’s friends as well.
It was inconceivably crowded, so much that in the beginning you could barely dance. As the night wore on, though, things improved greatly (including the music). Finally, I was having a fantastic time, lubricated no doubt by the copious flow of Munich’s fine brews in our direction.
I am thoroughly enjoying Munich’s world-class beer; they do, after all, claim the title of “Beer Capital of the World.” I think I’ve lost track of all the beers I’ve tried, but I definitely remember the following Dunkels (dark beers): Spaten, Augustiner, Schneider, and Lowenbrau, (crap where’s the umlaut??) which certainly leaves the Hofbrau and Schlossbier as coming attractions.
Ok, I have to take a nap. My head hurts!
