MY NEW PODCAST, alienEthOS

September 4, 2005 on 5:43 am | In Travelogue | No Comments

A couple weeks ago my friend Kevin asked me if I’d like to temporarily co-host a podcast show with him, revolving around the more serious issues addressed in sci-fi media. Naturally, I responded “TEMPORARILY?? You don’t think I want to co-host it FOR ALL TIME?!?!?!” We decided to call it alienEthOS: The Ethics of Sci-fi.

Some of you out there, like my parents, may ask “What the heck is a podcast?” It’s kind of like TiVO for radio. People record an audio- only show, then post it on a website. Then avid listeners download it to their portable music players (like iPods or Rios) and listen to it at their own convenience, able to pause as they so desire. The good podcasters eventually have their regular shows pointed to by popular music applications like iTunes, which can then automatically download your favorite weekly shows without you lifting a finger. You can find out how to subcribe here.

We’ve recorded and posted our first show, and we’ve begun promotion as well. I’m very optimistic about our chances, as we both had a great time, and improved immensely just in the course of recording one show. If anyone else out there’s a sci-fi geek, go grab it and listen!
